How to Choose a Tracker as an Affiliate Marketer

How to Choose a Tracker as an Affiliate Marketer

Hey everyone. I’ve been getting questions about trackers, so I talked to some fellow affiliate marketers and I’m ready to share what I found — but first, let’s cover what a tracker actually is.

A tracker is a service or software that helps you control and manage your traffic:

— split it into segments and track the performance of each;
— test offers and landing pages;
— swap out links in your ads without needing to resubmit them for moderation (handy when you’re swapping offers);
— hide your traffic data from networks, protecting your methods.

Trackers are essential when you’re working with multiple traffic sources — you need to clearly understand what traffic is coming from where, and be able to manage it, cutting underperforming channels to save budget.

Trackers can run on your own hosting or in the cloud. Cloud-based ones generally can’t handle large volumes of data.

Which Tracker Should You Choose?

Almost everyone I asked said Binom. I personally Googled it and tested it out. Here’s what Binom can do:

  • segment traffic by custom parameters;
  • optimize traffic flows using uniqueness and conversion-based distribution;
  • store and manage packages of landing pages and offers;
  • add notes to campaigns and their elements;
  • create blacklists and whitelists with labels in reports;
  • assign campaigns, offers, and landing pages to specific team members.

Inside the dashboard, you get:

  1. Reports on campaigns, offers, and other categories.
  2. Multi-level traffic reports with filtering by dozens of parameters.
  3. Detailed click-level statistics.
  4. A Trends section showing data by day, week, and month with source and group filtering.
  5. The ability to view data as charts.

Binom’s standout feature is speed. Reports generate instantly — even massive datasets process in just a few seconds. To avoid getting lost in reports, you can tag rows and filter by those tags.

Why Is Binom Great for Affiliates?

  1. For team-based work — add multiple users with granular permission settings for any tracker object (campaigns, offers, landing pages, sources, rotations);
  2. Handles high traffic volumes without slowing down;
  3. Detailed redirect configuration, including by click uniqueness (users won’t see the same offer twice);
  4. Landing page protection against direct access bypassing the affiliate link;
  5. Custom traffic distribution rules.

Personally, I think it’s the best tracker on the market right now. Other affiliates recommend it too, myself included. The competition is nowhere close. Volume is one competitor worth mentioning for traffic scale, but it’s still behind because it hasn’t gained wide recognition in the international market yet. You can check it out yourself and see why everyone recommends Binom!
