Choosing the Offer

I spent a long time picking an offer — I wanted something different. I was tired of weight loss and adult offers, so I decided to go with something for car owners: Fuel Free, a magnetic device that claims to reduce fuel consumption. Gas is expensive all over Europe, so “How do I cut my fuel costs?” is a question every driver asks. Since I was already experimenting, I figured I might as well go all in — I picked a relatively untapped GEO with solid conversion potential, and Poland turned out to be a perfect fit.

Choosing the Traffic Source

Not many sources can match Facebook in terms of profitability. But when it comes to native ad networks, Revcontent consistently delivers on click price and traffic volume. You’ll notice a small discrepancy between the Revcontent and Leadbit stats. First, Revcontent only counts unique traffic and filters out bots. Second, some traffic gets lost in redirects when using a tracker.

Campaign Setup

I decided to prioritize mobile traffic, since I believe that active younger users consume more content on their smartphones.
After burning through 3,000 clicks, I built my blacklists and whitelists. The blacklist ended up being large — there were a lot of bots. The whitelist only had 3 large placements.

Creatives

The teasers were kept simple, with a core message like: “Your car burning too much fuel? We know what to do” and similar angles.

The teasers drove users to amazing storytelling articles about incredible fuel savings from bloggers and everyday people sharing their experience:

And then on to Leadbit’s converting landing page — http://pl.thefuelfree.com.

Results

I spent $1,222 (stats from the network and source shown above) and got 125,395 clicks to the affiliate network. Of those, Revcontent only recognized 122,052 as quality traffic without bots. In the end, I came out significantly in profit — ROI of around 100% — with a not-so-popular offer in a not-so-hyped GEO.

Takeaway — you can run anywhere and anything! Regardless of the offer or GEO, people respond to problems. Tell them you can solve their pain point and they’ll happily part with their money. Don’t be afraid to test less popular GEOs — there’s profit to be squeezed out of them. As you should understand, what’s already saturated in one market can absolutely work in another. Test different creatives — coming up with them isn’t that hard. Ad spy tools exist for a reason: use them, pick a GEO, translate the text into the local language, and start driving traffic. It’s not as hard as it seems. The main thing is to test, be patient, and not rush — you’ll get there, even if you’re a beginner. And you can work with different affiliate networks — each has its own exclusive offers. Personally I only recommend a few, but Leadbit is on that list — I’ve never had a single complaint about them.
